RYA British Youth Sailing

The RYA (Royal Yachting Association) works in partnership with sailing clubs through the British Youth Sailing (BYS) Recognised Club Programme to help them establish or enhance their junior race training. A BYS Recognised Club allows junior sailors to develop their sailing and racing skills and encourages young sailors at grassroots level to stay in the sport.

For a club to achieve BYS Recognised Club status, a club must demonstrate that it runs a regular race training programme within at least one of the BYS Recognised Classes. To achieve the high standards of training that are expected of BYS Recognised Clubs, training must be delivered by qualified RYA Coaches to RYA Recognised Training Centre standards (or equivalent) with a Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy in place.

BYS Recognised is a new RYA program for 2018 and Chew Valley Lake SC were accepted as one of the first RYA BYS Recognised Clubs in the Autumn of 2018.

The flag and plaque were presented to us by British Sailing Team members Bryony Shaw and Daisy Collingbourne at our annual prizegiving.
