Family Regatta Saturday 02-Jul-22
See below for details of our family regatta. The day is heavily pirate themed with lots of fun, family activities and lots of treasure to be won for the best dressed pirates and boats, so please do come along and join in the fun.
Parents – I am looking for some parents to help supervise the giant inflatable on the day. If you can help out with a stint please contact me here
Discover sailing – Saturday 25-Jun-22
This coming Saturday 25th June we will be joined at our club by many non members coming too try out sailing as part of the RYA “Discover Sailing” initiative. As well as showing them our facility we will be taking people out for a quick sail, largely using the club quests, in the hope that some decide to explore sailing as a hobby further.
As a result, please note that the quests are NOT available for member use this coming Saturday.
Thank you to all those that have volunteered to help out on the day, showing people around and taking them out on the lake.
While we have arranged to have some spare buoyancy aids to hand, we are keen to have a few more available for use if possible. If you have a buoyancy aid you wouldn’t mind loaning out for the day, please can you either bring it along on Saturday, or get it to me on Wednesday evening, or simply leave it in the Secretary’s office (clearly marked with your name). Will will endeavour to leave all loaned buoyancy aids back to the owner and will leave them for collection in the Secretaries Office after the event
Start Racing – Thursday evenings
Anyone thinking of trying a race at the club or just wanting to improve skills? – this is for you…
The Start Racing sessions are now up and running on Thursday evenings led by the fabulous Nick, Derian and Andy. Between these three there is a wealth of racing experience and lots of knowledge that they freely pass on for your benefit.
The fabulous sessions cover everything you need to know about racing at Chew and will give you a leg-up if you fancy having a go.
So, if you’re reasonably happy cruising around the lake (but perhaps looking for further challenges?) come and join the group. By focusing on sailing around a course alongside others you’ll find your skills will improve quickly.
The sessions start at 6pm (rigged and changed) for a quick chat before getting afloat.
Three more sessions are scheduled: 23-Jun-22, 30-Jun-22, 07-Jul-22.
No need to book, just turn up…
