Time seems to be flying by and the warmer weather seems to be upon us, at least for a while. With the promise of better weather, here’s a quick update of things coming up at the club over the coming weeks to wet your appetite and tempt you back on the lake

Chew Style Beetle Drive and Pizza Evening Weds 30-Mar-22 6:45pm

All adults and children are welcome to our Beetle Drive with a sailing twist. No previous beetling experience necessary. Come and mark the start of the lovely warm Spring season, the fabulous new-look bar, and enjoy the last of the very tasty Wednesday Pizza nights.
We’ll aim to get going at 6:45 pm so participants can at least have ordered food. It would be helpful for Antonia and Ben to have some idea of supper numbers so if possible, please let them know in advance if you’re planning to dine.

We look forward to seeing you there!
Ruth & Nick

Lunch on the Lake

Last year’s instigation of ‘Lunch on the lake’ events proved popular with those inclined to try their hand at precision anchor deployment and having their lunch while afloat.

Following on from this, you will now see that ‘Lunch on the lake’ is a scheduled entry on the club calendar (calendar can be found on the club’s website), the first of 2022 to be held on Saturday 09-Apr-22.

Staying within the confines of the permitted anchoring area (Lake Plan) we would aim to anchor from about 12:30pm onwards, the duration of your lunch is entirely up to you.

As usual, this is a weather-dependant event and it may be cancelled on the day if the conditions are considered to be unsuitable. Check the club’s Facebook page nearer the time for any last-minute changes.

If you have a galley box and fancy making your lunch afloat then please give it go, it’s an experience!

On the road update

Despite the inclement weather we had a couple of boats travel to compete in the Tiger Trophy recently. Tom Jeffcoate and Racing downwind in their 505 (white spinnaker) and, above, Sailing Sec James Williams and Sarah flying downwind in the same event
