Three separate groups across the Saturday & Sunday (25th & 26th) and a Youth Regatta on the Bank Holiday Monday should mean there’s a session available for all ages (8 to 18) and all abilities (beginner to national squad sailor). Places are limited so register as soon as possible. The Saturday & Sunday groups for this year are:

  • Assistant Dinghy Instructor Course
  • All In Race Training Group
  • August Antics Beginners & Intermediates

The Monday (27th) Youth Regatta will have both a main fleet and a regatta fleet option.
More details for each group below.

Assistant Dinghy Instructor Course

Held as part of August Antics on the weekend of 25th/26th August. Aimed at those wanting to help with junior training at the club. Sailors need to be 14 years or older, goo d sailors, with at least a strong Stage 3 ability. The course will cover sailing a variety of boats, single handed sailing, double handed sailing, seamanship skills, the club operating procedures and how to instruct from both a RIB and a dinghy.

The cost of this course is met by the club and registration is now open at August Antics – Assistant Dinghy Instructor Course

All In Race Training Group

A perfect group for those that have attended sessions over the past year in one of the four race training groups (Toppers, Fevas, Laser and 29ers). The aim is to have some fun and mix it up a little combining all our junior and youth classes. Expect a day of double handers, a single handers day, helms crewing and vice versa, and trying boats you may not have sailed before. Sailors will need to be happy handling a Tera, Topper or Feva around a triangular course in a Force 3-4. Previous racing experience is an advantage but not essential. Coaching will be provided by a mix of Chew Instructors and external guest RYA coaches. Some parent help would be very welcome.

The cost for this group is £25 per sailor for the 2 days. Registration is now open at August Antics – All In Race Training Group

August Antics Beginners & Intermediates

Two days (25th/26th August) of jam packed fun on the water. Perfect for those in the Chew Crew Intermediate group. A few places will also be open for beginners – but it should be noted this is not a learn to sail program. This is all about improving sailing through having fun on the water. Expect some sailing theory and practice, and a lot of on the water games.
The cost for this group is £20 per sailor for the 2 days. Parent help will be required in order to run this activity.

Registration is now open at August Antics – Beginners and Intermediates

CVLSC Youth Regatta (Monday only)

We’ve found an historic club trophy hiding in a cupboard in the secretary’s office. The Junior Regatta trophy. It is a very fine silver cup with names engraved up to 2014 and was the trophy for the race which traditionally ended our own Club Junior week or, as it became, weekend. So, it only seems right and proper that we hold a regatta at the end of August Antics to decide a winner, and custodian for the year of the Junior Regatta Trophy.

There will be two fleets, a main fleet and a regatta fleet. The main fleet will race for the Junior Regatta trophy. Those with some experience of racing should race in this fleet. For those new to racing and still finding their feet, the regatta fleet is the place to be. The courses will be shorter, and we will have coaches on the water to provide encouragement and advice for those in need of it.

The plan is to have a few races in the morning, come in for lunch, and then a few races in the afternoon, finishing with prizegiving.

As many parent volunteers as possible will be required to run this event. Please complete the parent volunteer details on the form. Please pre-enter so we can properly cater for numbers and experience levels at August Antics – CVLSC Youth Regatta
