RYA Training

CHEW VALLEY LAKE SAILING CLUB is recognized as a Training Centre by the Royal Yachting Association, the governing body for all types of sailing in the U.K. We have a dedicated team of RYA qualified instructors and Senior Instructors which enables us to offer to our members training for the following activities.

Young Sailors - Stage 1 and 2 (combined); Stage 3

Adult Courses - Level 1 and 2 (combined); Seamanship Skills; Sailing with Spinnakers; And Performance Sailing.

Powerboat courses - Level 1, 2 and Safetyboat

Shorebased courses - Day Skipper/Watch Leader and Coastal Skipper/Yachtmaster theory courses.

Training for the dinghy courses is usually held during the period April/May each year – the actual dates being advised in our Newsletter. Powerboat courses and Shorebased courses run according to demand and it is the wish of the General Committee that all members who wish to carry out club duties as Rescue Boat helms be trained to Powerboat Level 2 standard.
